This was a varied musical concert with North Manchester AOD’s, The Anita Tymcyshyn Dancers and Crumpsell concert band. The dances were performed to backing tracks. The Band were conducted by Kathryn Burke and these numbers were beautifully performed and made for a very Christmassy feel.
The backcloth, lighting and Christmas trees were absolutely beautiful and added to the feel of the show. The costumes were lovely, basic blacks with colour swathes or long colourful dresses for the soloists. The dancer costumes looked fabulous and were changed for every number.
The set list was varied from traditional carols, poetry readings and numbers which had absolutely nothing to do with Christmas but were pleasant to listen to. With
I enjoyed the poetry especially The Night Before Christmas as this is a favourite in our house. The chorus numbers sounded lovely with some well drilled harmonies. The dancers had varied routines to nice numbers.
The band numbers were fabulous. I enjoyed The Trolley Song, Somewhere, the Rodgers & Hammerstein selection and the carols in the final section.
The soloists all performed their numbers well with Vanessa Randle singing a beautiful rendition of “Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, Anne Butterworth performing the lovely “Waltz of My Heart” and “Love Changes Everything” and a gorgeous Pie Jesu with Eileen Wilson. Mary Doyle, Paul Alcock and Lawrence Shoesmith were the other soloists who performed their solos very well.
It was a lovely varied evening with some talented performances which helped to get in the mood for Christmas.
