A large and mainly young cast brought this adaptation by Neil Duffield to the Civic Theatre stage. With scenes quickly changing few characters had the opportunity to make their presence felt. However Ben Addy as Ebenezer Scrooge worked hard and successfully portrayed the miser as we all know him. Christmas Past was pleasantly portrayed by Hannah West and Mark Hone was a dominant Christmas Present. Steven Coward was a suitably under fed Bob Cratchitt and Danny Hastie a suitably well fed Fred. The Rotherham Brass Town Brass Band made a guest appearance with carols before the play and off stage later. Furniture and props were very simple but I would have preferred a little more authenticity in these and the costumes to have set the almosphere more successfully. A rather understated production which was a little disappointing following the previous good work of the group.
