Local amateur theatre group The Stratford Players come up with a plan to raise funds and save their local theatre by attracting a celebrity to join them in their production of Shakespeare’s ‘King Lear’. Enter a flagging American actor thinking he is to perform Lear at Stratford Upon Avon only to find out it is not the same Stratford ?

He meets the local amateur theatre enthusiasts and later in the play his estranged daughter and the story unfolds. This play is full of humour and was quite well put together under the direction of Ian Moss. There were some very good characterisations. Bad mannered american Jefferson Steel was excellently played by Andy Pontin. Celebrity struck Mary Plunkett was very well played by Debbie Taylor-Sweeney and provided great comedy. So too did Eamon Sweeney as Denis Dobbin. Chad Andrew Lyon was great as Nigel Dewbury and had great delivery. Other notable performances were from Sue Dolby as the competent director Dorothy Nettle, Stacey Johnson as Laura Bell and Tee Powell as Jessica Steel.

Well done everyone and thank you for a great evening.
