With the book written by Patricia Resnick and music and lyrics by Dolly Parton ‘9 to 5’ was another hit for Tamworth MTC.
The production shows us the working inside a large regional office of Consolidated Companies Inc and the trials and tribulations of three of its secretary’s and their working relationship with their boss, Franklin Hart Jr.
Franklin was played by Andrew Britton, who played the role to the full. The big and powerful boss who was put in his place by three ladies who worked so well together. Violet Newstead (Jane James), Doralee Rhodes (Hannah Turrell) and Maddy Jones as newbie Judy Bernly. They led the show from start to finish with great stage presence and also great singers. Great support came from Charlotte Isaac as interfering Roz Keith and Rhys Dempster as Joe, the guy who helped the ladies in the downfall of Hart. I must also say that the remainder of the company looked great in their roles, in particular Lyndsey White who played drunk to glamorous Margaret. Great acting.
Costumes looked good and I must commend the company on the wonderful back projection used. It was also good to see the scene changes covered by dance. A nice edition. Even though you could not see the orchestra they sounded good and every word could be heard from the stage.
Congratulations to director Laura Whitehouse.
A good nights entertainment.
