CWAGMS should be congratulated for this production and it was really appreciated by this sell out audience. The production opened with the Dolly Parton classic 9 to 5 and from then on it was fun and laughter all the way.

The company of 42 were led by three very talented people, Sue Samuel (Violet Newstead), Katie Gibson (Doralee Rhodes) and Ellen Minton (Judy Bernly). They worked so well together in their dislike for their boss Franklin Hart Jr. Meanwhile Charlotte Chambers applies herself to the difficult role of Roz the office snoop and torch bearer for the boss and brings the house down with her fantasy in ‘Heart to Hart’. The object of all the angst is the 'sexist and egotistical’ boss Hart played with relish by Andy Nicholls and played so well that the audience has little sympathy for his plight. The hope for the males lies in the character of Joe enacted by Ade Cox who tries to woo Violet with respect for who she is. Good supporting performances come, among others, from James Hogg as Dwayne, Nicki Drew as Margaret, Chris Unwin as Dick  and Geoff Tunnicliffe as Tinsworthy.

Light-hearted but with a distinct edge, this was a fast moving show with great emotional numbers well sung by the cast, aptly choreographed and with a set that facilitated the different scenes like clockwork. I also enjoyed ‘One of the Boys’.

With great sets and costumes this production was sure to be a big hit for the company.  The Orchestra, under the direction of John Nicholls, sounded good and it was nice to see a full orchestra at a production.

Sharron Burns did a wonderful job in directing this production and both she and the company should be proud of what they achieved.

Thank you so much for the invite.
