I always look forward to seeing any premiere performance at the Core, that said 9 to 5 exceeded my expectations as it was truly fabulous from start to finish.
The story line mirrors the film of the same name, where the plot hinges around three of the ladies who work for their bigoted sexist boss Franklin Hart (Mark Hughes) Doralee is his long suffering secretary and was played by Jo Smith & Loretta Parnell played Violet the company’s senior supervisor, Judy is a new girl in the office played by Lauren Clarke.Roz is the only devoted staff member who adores Franklin (Nicola Palfrey)
The fast pace of the scenes ensured the audience couldn’t wait to find out what happens next, it’s quite a complex storyline for a musical comedy especially the fantasy, hospital and hostage elements so I’m not going to elaborate and give the plot away.
The principals without exception were outstanding throughout this well cast production with their strong characterful performances, they were supported by a large ensemble the musical numbers were fabulous as many contained an array of original choreography by Liane. With the many years of experienced direction by Veronica and talented musical direction from Stephen ensured STAGS have once again produced a winning crowd pleaser that you should all be very proud to have been be a part of.
Congratulations to all concerned and well done on a fast moving entertaining evening of musical theatre.
Personally I consider it to be one of your best productions to date, I loved it!
Thank you once again for the invite and the hospitality,
Hope the AGM goes well, Joyce x
