In celebrating their 60th year, Thomson Leng Musical Society took us on a delightful musical journey. This was an evening of sheer entertainment with singing, dancing and most importantly fun and laughter and a large sense of family amongst the cast. The ensemble work was quite inspiring with big song and creative dance and movement routines which were brilliantly choreographed and executed by a confident cast.

Reaching a standard like this demands incredible hard work and commitment not just by those on stage but by a fantastic production team. This whole production was expertly controlled by Billy Muir based at his piano on stage and the very simplistic but effective choreography took us on our journey with the company not only an amazing sound for the ears but something to keep the eyes focused on throughout.

It is not possible to mention each musical item or name those in ensembles and individual soloists, but it would be remiss of me not to refer to my own highlight. It was wonderful to hear from Society President Donna Bell who presented the finale number of the evening “You’ve Got A Friend” advising that this song has a great sense of meaning for the company and is performed before each performance as part of the company vocal warm up. It was a wonderful sound around the theatre to hear past and present members of the company all joining in.

Congratulations on your production and I wish you all well for future productions.

A visit to the Space in Dundee and an evening of pure delight. This was a master class in how to put on a celebratory review show. I was taking notes!

The company as a whole were fabulous, moving around the stage with confidence, singing their hearts out and dancing up a storm. I was so impressed by everyone and even more delighted that everyone had something special to do. The age range on stage was all encompassing. From the more mature to younger members all working as a collective whole.

To put on a show like this requires planning and insight. Well done to all involved in it. The choosing of music, (some linked to the 60th year) diamond set, sixties set, miscast love songs and Les Misérables, to name a few, was a fitting tribute to this talented bunch. The clever way the cast positioned and repositioned themselves and the slick inventive choreography completed the picture.

However, the finishing touch was Billy with his see-through piano centre stage. Right where he deserves to be!

The set was simple but so effective, big letters and black rostra at different levels, shows that less is definitely more. Lighting and sound of a high standard, perfect.

Thank you TLMS - a night to remember. Congratulations x
