This golden oldie immediately makes you think of tap dancing and glitz, and I was not disappointed on either count. The dancing throughout was first-class, the whole cast perfectly performing the outstanding choreography, with the beautiful costumes heightening the effect. The simple set, with effective lighting, combined with a top class band, made this a most entertaining production.
Dave O`Neal was most imposing as Director Julian Marsh, and his singing of `Lullaby of Broadway `, was splendid. Claire Collishaw was an excellent choice to play the role of the fading actress Dorothy Brock as she carried the role with elegant ease, continually berating her beau Abner Dillon, a nice cameo by Lindsay Mould. Helen Perry as the young and ambitious Peggy Sawyer was a joy to watch, her dancing was top-rate, and her overall performance a delight. Jack Draper was great as Billy Lawler in both singing and dancing, as were Carrie-Anne Corner as Maggie Jones and Rob Chilton as Andy Lee. Anna Cousins, Sian Scattergood, and Lydia Thacker excelled in their supporting roles and all the minor principals were well cast. Congratulations to the production team of Liz, Laurie, and Tom for delivering a stunning show.
