To celebrate its 30th anniversary the group decided to perform extracts from six of its most recent productions, interspersed with items from former students. A full house of family, friends and local supporters on a cold Saturday afternoon were warmly entertained with extracts from three of Shakespeare’s comedies – The Comedy of Errors, The Tempest and Twelve Night - and three of the plays devised by the company which all had North East themes – Doorways, Lottie and Our Scotland. This latter comprised of short sketches taking a light hearted look at the Scottish way of life and put together as in a TV show and was most appropriate in the year of Homecoming and the Scottish Referendum.  We were also given an extract from Annie by the Musical Theatre class which gave some of the younger members the chance to show their talents. Former members who contributed, and demonstrated the talents and experience they gathered while members of the school, were Scott Armstrong (show songs), Callum Bell and Maren Mitchell (monologues from Two Gentlemen of Verona and The Steamie respectively) and piano virtuoso Graeme Waterhouse (from classical to jazz pieces). At the heart of the school is its hard working and enthusiastic principal Rhona Mitchell whose dedication to bringing out the best in the youngsters is remarkable. At the end of the performance the appreciation of all her work was marked by the presentation of a bouquet of flowers and an anniversary cake – which she promised to share with cast between the performances!
