Limelight Theatre Company embrace the virtual world

1st June 2020

In these times of lockdown, like many theatre groups, Limelight Theatre Company have embraced the virtual world. The company, based on Aylsham Road in Norwich have been pleased to be able to continue their drama sessions online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Experienced tutor Hayley Evenett said, “We chose the platform ZOOM for these sessions, as this is easy for parents to access, both via computer, tablets and smart phones. We purchased the Pro version, which enabled us to offer sessions longer than the free 40-minute basic Zoom plan”. Weekly group sessions, for the age group of 7 to 11 years are held on a Wednesday at 4.30pm and Saturday morning at 9.30am. Both groups are working on scripts, Alice In Wonderland on Saturdays and Shrek for the Wednesday group. Hayley has adapted these stories to fit in with both the ability and age of both groups. There are also regular fun drama games as a warm up to the sessions and even a ‘who dun it’ with Limelight Director and NODA Youth Advisor for the East region, Zelda Rolfe, playing the detective. From comments we have received from parents, online sessions have been a welcome addition and bring a little bit of normality to our students.

Online sessions continue until July, when we might just be able to all be together again, guidelines permitting. Until then, our students will continue to develop their drama skills, with Hayley leading them and having plenty of fun along the way.  For further information or to join in with these sessions, please email hello@limelightnorwich.co.uk
