Octopus Drama Group’s forthcoming production is the comedy play ‘The Village Hall’, written by Ashley Burgoyne and directed by Sue Smith, ‘The Village Hall’ promises chuckles a plenty, a real tonic!
Derek, Chairman of the Parish Committee, is determined to win back the coveted ‘Village Games’ crown for Upper Kingham, which they lost for the first time in a decade to their local rivals, Lower Kingham. Laura’s determined to get her own play produced, so she starts an Amateur Theatre Group. Between the Village Games and the Theatre Group there’s a constant hive of activity but there’s also a dark undercurrent. Something unpleasant is attempting to disrupt the daily events that exist in The Village Hall. Will Derek win the village games trophy, will Laura get her play staged, can Tom deal with the advances of Sarah, will Marjorie be able to cope with her various physical ailments, will Giuseppe reveal what happened in Magaluf to harm Tyler’s relationship with Tia and can Daisy curb Giuseppe’s jealousy?
‘The Village Hall’ is Ashley Burgoyne’s first full length play, a NODA award winner for Best Drama in 2023 for its northern district. If you’d like to experience the ingenious writing of this lesser known playwright, secure your seats soon.
