Jack and the Beanstalk

A feel-good pantomime about cows, gold and a Giant who may not be all that he seems.

The Trotts, Dame Trott and her sons Jack and Jez are poor; make that very poor, ok, very, very poor.  The only thing they have of value is their cow, Buttercup, but the village folks are no longer buying her milk. Gruffy Mc Gruff-Face and his henchmen (Ding and Dong) arrive at the Trott’s cottage to begin their eviction. The only thing the trots can do is sell Buttercup, so Jack and Jez are sent to market. On the way they meet Ding and Dong who offer to swap Buttercup for magic beans.  Jez is keen on the idea but Jack less so but eventually they agree to the swap.

They return home and Dame Trott is not impressed throwing the beans out of the cottage window where they start to grow! Jack hears tales of the Giant’s wealth and decides to climb the now grown beanstalk to see what he can ‘borrow’ from the Giant.

Jack arrives at the Giant’s kingdom where he is heard by the Giant who sends his wife to investigate.  She recognises Jack from the time she lived in the village. As Jack leaves the Giant’s kingdom he steals a golden harp.  Once back in the village Jack meets Jane (the next-door neighbour who he is secretly in love with) and Jez.

After another visit to the Giant’s kingdom Jack returns to find the Giant and his wife following him.  Apologies for past misdemeanours are made and as always in Pantoland everyone lives happily ever after.

With lots of songs, dances, jokes, amazing costumes and fun for a cold winter’s day.
