In this dazzling new production set in the extravagant 1920s jazz era, the stories of both operettas intertwine and unfold on the deck of a Mediterranean bound cruise ship. The Captain’s daughter Josephine and lower-class sailor Ralph Rackstraw fall unwittingly in love – but the Captain has already promised Josephine’s hand to Sir Joseph, a high-ranking officer in the Navy. Mayhem ensues when the lovers decide to elope. Elsewhere on ship trouble looms for socialite and bride-to-be, Angelina, on-board to tie the knot with her latest beau Edwin. Nowhere it seems is the path to true love plain sailing!
Performances Wed 12th November to Sat 15th November at 7.30 pm, Sat matinee at 2.00 pm.
Beyond Gilbert’s hilarious satire on the British class and legal systems, the shows boast some Sullivan’s most memorable melodies including ‘I’m called little Buttercup’, ‘Never mind the why and wherefore’, ‘For he is an Englishman’ and The Judges Song. So, get along to The Mission this November for an evening of toe tapping fun and entertainment!
