Downham Market, Norfolk – Get ready to enter a world of pure imagination as Melody Allsorts proudly presents Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – The Musical at the Downham Market Town Hall, running from the 7th to the 10th of August 2025.

This magical musical, based on Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s book, follows young Charlie Bucket as he wins a golden ticket to the mysterious and marvellous Wonka Chocolate Factory. Audiences of all ages can look forward to colourful characters, toe-tapping tunes, and a heartfelt story of kindness, courage, and confectionery!

Taking centre stage as Charlie is 12-year-old Olivia, a rising star from the local community. This marks her first leading role, and her natural talent, warmth, and charisma are already winning hearts. “Olivia brings such sincerity and energy to the role,” says the show’s director. “It’s been a joy to see her shine.”

Melody Allsorts is proud to be an inclusive amateur dramatic group, welcoming performers of all backgrounds and abilities. This production brings together a diverse and vibrant cast of local talent, showcasing what community theatre is all about: creativity, collaboration, and fun.

With a sprinkle of magic and a dash of creativity, the production brings the world of Willy Wonka to life with inventive staging and vibrant design. From the whimsical chocolate river to the nut-sorting squirrels, every scene is crafted to spark the imagination and delight audiences young and old.
