Arsenic and Old Lace by Josph Kesselrig

One of the first and funniest comedies of multiple murder this play was the first that put black comedy well and truly on the theatrical map . It tells the story off two charming and. Gentle old ladies who poison their poor orphan lodgers in order to save them from the sorrows of this world .Add in their madly eccentric nephew who thinks he’s an ex president of USAa nd his 2 brothers plus an exiled German maverick plastic surgeon and the scene is set for murder and farce all of which happens under the nose of the local police force who have no idea of what goes on in this house of horrors

The play was written and produced in 1941 in New York and made into a film staring Cary Grant in 1944 . It is set in war time Brooklyn New York

This amateur production is presented by arrangement with
Music Theatre International on behalf of Josef Weinberger Ltd.
