Pranksters Theatre Company

The Pranksters Theatre Company has been staging shows in Guildford since 1977 in a wide variety of venues, including the Electric Theatre, the Spike workhouse, a hair salon, inside the Norman Castle keep and various pubs! Every summer there is an outdoor production by the Victorian bandstand in Guildford Castle Grounds. Shows range from Shakespeare through to Jerusalem by Jez Butterworth and include classics like Chekhov, Brecht, Miller and Pinter and others like Steve Martin's Picasso at the Lapin Agile (set in a bar and staged in a pub) and Steel Magnolias, staged appropriately in a hair salon. Pranksters are proud to have been awarded NODA Accolades of Excellence for a few shows and Best Drama in the South East 2020/21 for The Comedy of Errors. In addition to productions (three a year) there are playreadings, workshops, a Play in a Day for new directors, theatre visits and other social events. With ages ranging from 18 to over 80, Pranksters welcome everyone, whether for performing, backstage or technical.
