‘Whatever Happened to the 20th Century?’

An interesting selection of items from the 20th century was the theme for this compilation show which started with music hall songs and moved onto the war years. The first act ended with a rousing, well-costumed rendition of ‘Rock Around the Clock’ that had the audience singing along and had there been more room some of us would have been dancing in the aisles! Songs associated with artists such as Vera Lynn, The Andrews Sisters, Bill Haley, Elvis, Buddy Holly, The Beach Boys, Michael Jackson, Abba and Queen (to name but a few!) were included so there was something for everyone. The war section was particularly well dressed in the period, as was the Rock and Roll, and there were also some super Mary Quant style outfits. Different newscasters kept the audience abreast of the happenings. The dancers were very good and performed excellent routines. Sound was a little erratic and occasionally the band was rather too loud but all in all it was a lively production.
