1965 American musical film starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.
June Thomas’s splendid direction aided by excellent acting and singing from the principals and chorus assured a wonderful evening for the audience. Maria (Melanie Willis) gave a delightful performance, her acting and singing were of the highest order. Von Trapp (Philip Mumford) was well cast as the father. The children enchanted and were very well disciplined on the stage. Rolf (Jago Thornton) and Liesl (Beth Mabin) gave good supporting performances. A special mention of Carrie Canfield who played the role of the Mother Abbess with dignity and compassion, her singing was perfect for the part. The rest of the principals and the ensemble made for a very enjoyable evening. Graham Hix and the orchestra played well and supported the cast The dancing skills of choregrapher Graham McCarron came over in a professional manner. Mike Davall and crew worked the elegant sets to compliment the show.
