This very popular musical certainly found great favour with the audience and the applause at the end of the show was richly deserved. The excellent set with a good lighting plot and sound effects posed no problems for the stage crew. The essential scene-changes took place smoothly and efficiently. Throughout this production the singing was very pleasing. I particularly enjoyed the harmony in the nuns' numbers. All the principals were proficient both in their singing and acting abilities. Jo Dewberry [Maria], Simon Nicholson [von Trapp] and Kate Fenn [Mother Abbess] were especially notable . As anticipated, the children were quite delightful and the rest of the named characters and ensemble were strong in support. The show moved smoothly along telling the tale well with commendable accompaniment from the orchestra. This was a hugely enjoyable production.
