A delightful Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, when a splinter of a glass mirror belonging to The Snow Queen enters young Kay’s eye making him heartless.
This show had a well-balanced cast with a variety of ages, talents and experience. The younger members of the cast were well disciplined doing everything asked of them confidently. The enthusiasm of the performances from the entire company, be they Principal, Dancer or Chorus, was very evident.
This production of The Snow Queen had all the elements expected, with colourful costumes; romantic duets; lots of audience participation; singing and dancing; good overcoming evil and an abundance of comedy both visually and in the dialogue.
Direction, Choreography and Musical Direction were first class, The sets, including the backcloths, were fine and the stage management was efficient keeping the show moving throughout. The costumes were lovely and certainly added to the visual effect as indeed did the lighting.
It was lovely to see so many old faces back on stage and look forward to seeing even more with your 75th anniversary production in 2018.
Congratulations Maesteg Operatic.
