I have to say right from the start, the whole Addams family cast were exceptional! Adam Guest was fabulous as the father, Gomez. He extracted every bit of comedy from this role, his comedic timing was brilliant and had the audience giggling all evening. Adam also brought out the emotional father side of this character and his caring husband qualities. Wonderful vocals, I particularly enjoyed his rendition of ‘Not Today’.

His wife Morticia was played by Beth Yearsley. She was the perfect Morticia, elegant, calm, sophisticated and a little bit scary. Great singer and together Adam and Beth performed a tango which demonstrated their passion for each other.

Evie May Evans played daughter Wednesday and Arden-Caspar Jennison as the mischievous son Pugsley, great sibling pairing, loved their duet ‘Pulled’. More great vocals and characterisation. Againreally bringing to life their sibling relationship.

Uncle Fester was played by Rob Charles who was perfect for this role.  Such a fun role, bringing joy to the stage every moment he enters. His version of ‘The Moon and Me’ was awesome. I loved Rob’s portrayal as it took me back to the original black and white television series.

The role of Grandma Addams was played by Mina Holtom. Fantastic character role that Mina brought to life continuing the eccentrics of this different family.

Lurch, the butler, was played by William Howarth towering over the family in his 4-inch heeled shoes.  Creating more comedy moments with his great physicality and timing.

Fabulous set with lots of attention to detail, loved the ‘A’ lighting up, all the photography and the rack to name a few.

Costumes were spot on, again the meticulous work that has been put into this area enhanced the show and was excellent throughout. Wednesday’s spider tights, the moon costume, all the wonderful different ancestor costumes, well done Mina Holtom.

Wednesday’s boyfriend, soon to be fiancé was played by Rob Stott-Marshall. Rob brings this awkward character to life and shows how besotted he is with her that he would literally die for her. Lucas’s parents, Mal Beineke played by Craig Arme and Alice Beineke played by Charlotte Drewett-Holden. The striking difference between the two families is evident from the moment they meet. The yellow, bright outfits of the Beineke’s contrasting completely with the dark and outlandish Addams family.

The ‘ancestors’ certainly enhanced this production. I absolutely loved all the different characters and wonderful different costumes; the splash of purple was a delight to see from the usual greys and whites.

Slick scene changes by Production and Stage Manager Katie Bird and her team. Excellent sound quality from Dave Dallard and effective lighting from Dave Martin.

Many congratulations to Emily Owen on her directorial debut, the scenes moved at a good pace and great use of the ancestors during the scenes. Great choreography by Lu Anthony that was executed well from all the cast with support from dance captains Alice Cammell and Jaye Bonser.  Musical Direction from Jake Gelernter, fabulous harmonies and a wonderful sound from the large 12-piece band. A number of groups are moving to backing tracks for their productions and it was so nice to see that BMTG are continuing to invest in a live band as it really gave another level to the performance.

I am excited to see Beeston Musical Theatre Group’s next production of Chess in May next year
