This spoof on John Buchan’s well known novel and the Alfred Hitchcock film of 1935 provided an excellent evening’s entertainment. The cast of four, who between them covered a multitude of parts, coped with all the costume changes, characters and locations admirably. Most of the parts falling on the shoulders of Paul Meakin and Tony Lane as Clown 1 and Clown 2 but Steve Sale as Richard Hannay did not have an easy time either, being on stage for most of the time - he gave an excellent characterisation as Hannay. Helen Pack was equally busy as Annabella, Pamela and Margaret. Poor Annabella’s death scene was one of the comedy highlights due to her excellent performance. This fast moving comedy covered all the plot of the film with the humour and pace being maintained throughout the production. The cast are to be congratulated on this, because, if not done well, the piece would fall apart. Congratulations also to the directors and producers for bringing all this together, and also to all the backstage team for making all this possible, with simple, but effective scenery and special effects, accompanied by efficient changes of scene. This was my first visit to this company and I was very impressed with the standard and enthusiasm of all involved. Best of luck with your future productions.
