Another ‘jukebox’ musical that made a successful transfer to film, this show gives us the music of the ever-talented ‘Proclaimers’ and takes the audience on an emotionally charged musical and dramatic journey. In the pleasant and intimate space of The Stage Y Llwyfan, Melyncrythan Musical Theatre Company finally finished their two year journey with this show having had the pandemic in between starting and completing this show!

The set was exciting and cleverly designed and constructed and used, there was a lovely and sympathetic lighting plot and the whole space was used very well by the company. The ensemble were great and had great focus on stage, really drawing the audience into their world with their acting and singing. The principals were excellently cast and mention must go to the supporting roles played by Sophie Marvelley as Eilidh, Karen Webb as Hazel, Andy Walters-Burnett as Young Rob and the Barman, Kasey Hewitt as Young Jean, Lee Bentley as the Call Centre Trainer/Celebrity Chef/Andy and Connor Pope as Innes.

Special mention must go to Neil Perks as Rab, Zoe Walters for her incredibly captivating  performance as Jean and Stephanie Thomas and Kathy Peart giving amazingly strong vocal and dramatic performances as Yvonne and Liz. For me the shining performances of the night came from the two returning soldiers Davy and Ally, played by the ever-talented Jospeh Robinson and Ben Bateman respectively. They were both outstanding in their roles and were vocally excellent, taking the audience on a real journey with each of them. We as an audience felt so much from each performer and we laughed and cried, being taken on an emotional rollercoaster.

Thank you so much for a wonderful evening of entertainment and we are all very much looking forward to your next production.
