Having seen a production of this in the West End, I was looking forward to this presentation by the  Co-Op Juniors and I was not disappointed. Leading lady Deloris van Cartier was played by Venecia Allen in great form although she apparently has not been in a stage production before. The Mother Superior was played by Ipswich Operatic actress Stephanie Brown who brings a professional performance to everything she is in. There was an excellent set expertly managed by the stage crew. Always a professional orchestra was led by Nigel Virley.

There was a superb chorus of ladies who played the nuns. The story involved Deloris having witnessed a crime and those involved were keen to make sure she did not give evidence to the police, so they arrange for her to stay at the local Convent. The gang were led by Chris Evans as Curtis ably abetted by his gang Haydn Ingram, Christopher Gray, Curtis Cook and Richard Beeby.

The police offer who befriends Deloris and helps her dodge the gang was Peter Ling another popular local actor. He gave a brilliant rendering  of his solo despite wearing several uniforms at once!

There were some excellent performances by the nuns who all had their own personality. The young novice Sister Mary Robert sang in excellent voice and is to be watched for the future.

Superb costumes made this a most colourful production and standing ovations proved that this was thoroughly enjoyed by the audiences who attended.
