This show is one of my favourites as it has a bit of everything, and this one had a good set, great costumes and a great band led by John Murray.
The pairing of Don (Stephen Hopkins) and Cosmo (Luke Williams) was good and although Stephen was obviously not a dancer the choreography suited his ability and that is down to the experience of Julie McGuire. Cosmo’s “Make ‘Em Laugh” got the loud applause it deserved.
Lena ( Laura Harrington), always a fun role, kept, “that voice” all the way through and her number “What’s Wrong With Me” was sung with both fun and feeling.
Kathy Seldon (Alys Le Moignan) as the full package, acting, singing, and dancing all through the show.
Chorus and other principles all gave good performances, confident when both singing and acting. It is always a joy to see children on the stage and I am glad that Abigail and Jaycob Harrington (young Don and Cosmo) stayed for the curtain call.
I must just mention my fellow NODA Representative Dee McIlroy, what a surprise I got when she come onto the stage, it did take me a while to recognise her with her darker hair, a great character, well played, well done Dee.
I have to say that I was a bit disappointed with the filming sequences they seemed to have been hurriedly put together and the fight scene was, in my opinion very poor.
However, I did attend on the first night and apart from some slight glitches with costumes it was a very smooth production which I enjoyed.
Thank you yet again for your marvellous hospitality, and I hope to see you soon.
