The opening of this production was well planned with the eldest brother giving the audience a quick insight into his life in the backwoods. After this the backcloth moved away revealing a superbly costumed chorus dancing and singing to ‘A Wonderful Wonderful Day’. It was very apparent at that stage that we were in for a wonderful wonderful evening. The orchestra played superbly giving everyone the feel good factor, the direction was clever and well organised but the honours of this production must go to Rachel Apps for some outstandingly brilliant choreography. She put together and taught so many young men such interesting and intricate moves which made this show truly a masterpiece. All the singing and dancing was excellent and a joy to watch and hear. ‘Love Never Goes Away’ was movingly performed by John Chambers (Adam), Caroline Lowe (Millie) and Adam Gilbert (Gideon). All three of these gave exceptional performances throughout. I would like to mention everyone by name but there were too many great interpretations of the various characters but much of the credit of this excellent show goes to the girls and boys who must have worked incredibly hard to reach such a high standard. The lighting, sound, props and scenery were of a very high standard. My congratulations to this very talented society.
