Monmouth Comprehensive School, has once again shown the way in their production and performance of Seussical Junior, based on the amazing works of Dr Seuss.

It was a great pleasure to once again be witness to the talent and fortitude of the young performers of Monmouth School, some of whom were taking their first steps into the world of theatre.

An exciting show from beginning to end, with exceptionally good choreography for such a large cast and all carried out with such enthusiasm, with both technical and acrobatic skill.

The characterisation of the various group roles, The Who, the Bird Girls, The Jungle Citizens and the Wickershams, left the audience in no doubt as to what was happening, in what can be a very difficult plot to follow. Well done to the whole cast for taking us on a wonderful journey.

Congratulations on a beautiful performance to Eleanor Lawrence Preston as Horton. A difficult part to sing for anyone and played with great sensitivity and flawless dialogue.

Where would we be without The Cat in  A Hat played by Georgina Lewis. Cheeky, chirpy, full of grace and excellent comic timing, just as it should be. Very well done.

An excellent performance by Isla Davies as Gertrude Mc Fuzz. Well sung and with superb characterisation .Anya Duberley as Mayzie Labird was totally convincing in her role and a perfect contrast to both Gertrude and Horton. Well performed.

Jo Jo played by Owain Phillips gave a lovely performance, with excellent dialogue and good characterisation throughout and a definite rapport with Horton.

Ella Evans as the Sour Kangaroo gave an eye-catching performance full of sassy moves and great facial expression. An excellent contrast to the Young Kangaroo played by Isla Haythornthwaite [fab name] who’s elfin looks and cheeky demeaner provided the perfect foil for this duo. They certainly made an impact.

Playing the adult isn’t easy but Iwan beard and Poppy Janik as Mr and Mrs Mayor gave a very strong supportive performance and managed to make convincing parents to Jo Jo.

The whole performance clearly showed the level of hard work and dedication this young cast and the team of teaching staff and students have given to this show. My thanks to Mrs Amy Ritter for the invitation and my congratulations to you all.
