Written by Horncastle TC member, David Ireland, Puss in Boots provided an excellent evening's entertainment. Featuring youngsters of Horncastle Youngstagers aged between seven and twelve, the tale of Colin, the Miller's youngest son and a cat with magical qualities was easily told. All played their parts extremely well. Jamie-Leigh Dixon in the tiitle role and Kirsty Gladding as Colin deserve special mention. There were a number of chorus members, who portrayed pixies, elves, rabbits, the Ogre's disguises and statues as well as village people and guests at the Royal Party, in fine fashion. The audience enjoyed the singing, the simple dance routines and the humour of which there was plenty. Reference was made to local shops and so forth in Horncastle; it was all very amusing. The simple set left plenty of space for movement and the stage staff effected scene-changes very smoothly. Good use was made of the aisles to give more varied access to the stage. The costumes were delightful, the lighting plot was excellent and the sound effects were remarkable. All concerned with this charming production deserve plenty of praise. Well done.
