This was a superb rendering of the old favourite, and it was, I think, the best I have seen and that includes the film! A riot of colour and costumes, and an excellent set worthy of the West End stage.

A superb performance was given by Owen Berry as Fagin who, I thought, stole the show he was so good. The Sowerberrys (the undertakers) were suitably macabre played by Luke Cattermole and Karina Artun, and how poor Oliver stayed in that coffin! Widow Corny and Mr. Bumble, Rachel Lucock and Stephen Skrypec, brought comedy up to date with some action which almost warranted X-rating!  Bill Sykes played by Chris Evans was quite frightening at times and I wonder why someone like Nancy would fall for this character. However, Nancy (Lucy Allen) was brilliant in her renderings of “As Long as He Needs Me” and “Oom-pa-pa”.

The lads (Oliver, Haydn Ingram and Dodger, Curtis Cook) were lovely and our hearts went out for Oliver in his solo.

The huge chorus filled the stage, singing and dancing their hearts out, and bearing in mind these were youngsters I think the show was magic. Well done Co-Op another success for the books!
