Lionel Bart's popular musical needs a comprehensive set. This one was first rate with excellent cloths and props. Congratulations to the backstage staff and those responsible for its creation. The costumes were highly suitable for the era and the lighting was dramatic. On the whole the singing was to a high standard with Chris Liversidge's Fagin and the Sowerberrys along with Mr Bumble and Widow Corney being especially notable. I thought Sam Colley was very engaging as the Artful Dodger and Sian McDonald was pleasing as Nancy. The four market sellers did well and the chorus numbers came across clearly. Movement about the stage was well-rehearsed with the essential discipline necessary considering the small amount of available space. This was a worthy production.
