What a dynamic show this was. The energy positively oozed out way beyond the footlights right up to the outer reaches of the balcony of the Hippodrome.

All 34 of the players were enjoying themselves enormously bringing huge entertainment to their packed appreciative audience.  This is a musical that boasts no less than 54 scenes staged over 2 acts. The large numbers of changes require, in most cases, changes too of costumes for the actors. How they all managed to exit stage left one second and then re-emerge stage right in completely new outfits is a mystery. But what enormous skill and dedication this reflects. With such a large cast I can not mention everyone. Yet Blake Morris as Desmond Poppy who holds the entire show together was outstanding. He moved confidently and naturally with an assured swagger and enviable control. The many ensemble numbers were brilliantly staged and choreographed by the production team of Fiona Thompson, Matt Whatley, Tim Mason and Paige Brett. The vision of this outstanding quartet was imaginatively brought to life. It is a treat to see such youthful energy performing as a team, all paying close attention to the overall effect without being in any way selfish or trying to outdo their fellow actors. It is a discipline that once learned at this early state of their dramatic careers will stand them in good stead for the future. The entire team responsible for putting this show on the road, as the phrase goes, deserve respect for the time that they must have lavished on achieving such a high standard of performance. I must mention Eden Barriit once more. Eden has the skill, and I suspect the temperament also, to be an outstanding leading lady in years to come. Likewise Lewis Mumby, now equipped with a fully broken voice, is always a treat to watch. There I have mentioned 3 players by name. Do not, Cast, doubt that I thought all of you were superb!

A show like this sets out to engage, thrill and entertain in equal measure. It came splendidly up to the mark on all three counts.

Thank you for your welcome Julie. Even though I am standing down as D3 representative I look forward to seeing more shows such as “Nativity” at the Hippodrome in the years to come.
