Olivia Coote embodied Elle Wood and made the demanding role her own, she gave an excellent performance, and I loved her beautiful Legally Blonde duet shared with...
Emmett, Aiden Adams, a lovely, understated performance, fabulous voice as well, show cased what great chemistry they had together, each helping the other to overcome their challenges.
Warner, Ben Martins, life plan, check, on track and seems to have it all, ends up blowing all of his chances.
Professor Callahan does not suffer fools, in fact he doesn’t suffer anyone, entitled, no nonsense, brusque character, captured to a Tee by Bob Southgate.
Louise Byrne, as heart on her sleeve Paulette, superbly acted and sung, relating her emotional rollercoaster of a life, not forgetting her love of all things Irish. Her scenes with UPS ‘Walking Porn’ Kyle, played by Andrew, I know how to make an entrance, Chesney, were brilliant. The River dance was hilarious.
The Delta Nu girls Serena, Margot and Pilar, played by Emily Walker, Lauren Tidbury and Ayesha Shergill respectively were totally effervescent. Plus the Delta Nu team acting as the narrating Greek Chorus, were simply wonderful on stage – bright, enthusiastic and slick performances from everyone!
Vivienne, Hannah Brent, together with Enid Hoops, Sophie Mullender were key foils for new Harvard enrolee Elle reluctantly becoming firm allies as the story developed.
Similarly, Brooke Wyndham, Juliet Ferrar, former Delta Nu sister, believes in Elle to help prove her innocence of her husband’s murder. The courtroom scene was a real hoot, very animated very funny.
Director Sarah Porter's production team clearly loved the show. She certainly got her cast firing on all cylinders. The subtlety and depth, the humour of her performers was well observed. Great set, disguised openings allowing slick scene changes with the addition of props. Great job. Well-fitting and appropriate costuming, bright colours, great lighting design and sound delivery all contributed to a great production.
Ian Southgate as Musical Director had clearly worked very hard with the cast, vocal delivery was excellent, diction well delivered throughout. I especially loved the “What you want” number. The nod to Lord of the Dance was brilliant and very well-rehearsed with the cast so delivered very well.
Stealing the show however was Allister Fudge-Smith as Nikos and Jamie Fudge-Smith as Carlos who had the audience in stitches with their antics in “Gay or European” again very well-choreographed with precision. Really well-done guys, you were absolutely fab!
We of course can’t forget the two gorgeous doggies playing Bruiser and Rufus.
