Francis Durbridge's plays continue to be good value for money and 'House Guest' is no exception. In fact it has much to commend it as a thriller, for the situations are as probable today as when it was originally written. The storyline kept the audience's attention right to the last curtain line and the group played admirably on their tiny stage. Faking several deaths with little space to fall into, hardly any furniture to hide behind and the front row practically able to hear the actor breathing let alone see the chest moving when feigning death, takes some organisation, so well done Director and cast! Two last minute changes of cast were seamlessly integrated and the main characters were very well portrayed by Garry Wilkinson (Robert), Amanda Gill (his wife Stella) and David Smith ("Inspector Burford") -why the speech marks? you'll have to see the play! Well done, a good tale, well told.
