This show always delights audiences of all ages but particularly the younger members and this one certainly did not disappoint. Indeed lots of the younger audience members were all dressed up in their Frozen costumes. This was CTC’s junior production with a cast of over 70 aged between 5 and 16 years.

The scene opens with King Agnarr (Charlie Bowden-Smith) and Queen Iduna (Louella Chapelle) along with their daughters, the Young Elsa (Florence Horne) and Young Anna (Meadow Artun) and all the dancers and ensemble in a delightful Maypole dance ‘Let the Sun Shine On’.  As time goes by we meet the middle Elsa played by Penelope Hutchinson and Middle Anna, Izzy Rogers.  They were all confident in their roles and captured their characters perfectly. By the time we meet Queen Elsa (Maisie Scott) and her sister Anna (Grace Boyton), Elsa has discovered her hidden powers and flees the palace plunging  Arendelle into a frozen land. Elsa plays this strong, independent and somewhat solitary character. Anna in contrast, brings warmth to her portrayal along with the love that binds the sisters together.  They both gave amazing performances along with strength and a quality in their singing voices.

As Anna sets out on her journey she meets up with Kristoff (Lloyd Sayles) an explorer along with Sven (Scarlett Carter) his reindeer. They were both very believable characters and thrived in their respective roles. Ella Standring was Olaf, the snowman. She captivated the audience with her delightful, comic performance throughout. Mention must also go to Hans (Zakhary Wilson) in his convincing performance we find out that he has ulterior motives and only wishes to steal the kingdom. There was also some great little cameos from the supporting characters, too numerous to mention. Indeed all the chorus, dancers and ensemble were energetic and enthusiastic in the numerous musical numbers which were performed to a high standard, not forgetting the ages of this talented young cast.

Erin had again brought out the best in this cast with their acting and singing abilities, along with some innovative choreography from Rosie creating some quality dancing.  The set looked stunning and magical in a simple yet effective design. Lengths of fabric hung in taut pleats which were gathered at the top and illuminated in blues and greens,  to represent icicles. The sound and lighting complimenting this set perfectly. The numerous costumes from CTC’s own wardrobe all looked attractively appropriate and were very effective. Scene and set changes were excellent and went almost unnoticed.

You have done it again ladies and all credit to Bridie and all her cast and production team on this excellent production. Thank you for your hospitality.
