Frankenstein is a play based on the classic story by Mary Shelley dramatized by Tim Kelly which the Arts Group chose to perform over the period of Hallowe’en. The cast of eight, four men and four women enact the story based on the macabre dream of Mary Shelley’s of a scientist who creates a creature out of stolen body parts. The inspired director, Gary Wales, introduced some innovative ideas in the use of video graphics & sound which were woven into the action of the production. Every member of the cast had a vital role to play in the flow of the play and it was obvious that time had been spent analysing and creating each individual persona. Most significant was the role of the Creature played by Raith Munro. His portrayal had taken a great deal of study and focus which he maintained throughout. The creation of the Creature was only eclipsed by the work of the make-up designer, Ben Boyle, who must be congratulated on his make-up design. This show had the audience on the edge of their seats waiting to see what would happen next. An all-round excellent production.
