From the minute that Teyve, played brilliantly by Alasdair Baker welcomed us to Anatevka we knew we were in for a super evening. This was a most impressive production excellently conducted by Lynne Baker. The production moved along at a good pace although in certain scenes the dialogue was not that clear to hear which was a shame as some of the comic moments were missed. A well balanced cast and chorus captured the various moods of the production. Dominating the show was the superb performance of Alasdair Baker (Teyve). He was well supported by his family with some superb performances from his daughters and their suitors – what great voices these youngsters have. It is very difficult to mention individuals in such a company show but there were some great characterisations both in the supporting roles and ensemble. Excellent stage lighting both enhanced the set and costumes although I did think some of the ladies outfits were a little too modern in some scenes. It was a really enjoyable evening and thank you so much for your warm welcome and hospitality. Congratulations to everyone involved – I hope you all enjoyed the show as much as the audience did – well done.
