The first element that struck me was the well painted set, just as it should be with Mr Fox’s den and the big hill right in the center. Perfect. Simplistic just as a child would paint it.
Hayden Chambers as the story teller Badger projected his voice with confidence and told his story well.
Abi Hoskins, Sophia Modeste and Trixabelle Vooght as Boggis, Bunce and Bean the farmers respectively, work very well as a team, with good facial expression and a steady vocal pace.
Liberty Arnold as Mrs Fox was a perfect choice for the character and showed great control and support when working with the younger members of the cast. Well done.
However, it was newcomer to the group, Amber Rosen who played Mr Fox who was indeed Fantastic! This young actress showed the beginnings of a very competent performer with excellent diction, good use of pause and a natural feel of when to command the stage and when to hold back a little. An intelligent performance well done.
The rest of the company worked very well as a team and the rhythmic sound of the dig, dig, digging was in perfect time.
All the costumes were a perfect play on the various animals and the makeup gave the audience an effective impression of the different characters.
My only issue was that at times the company were a little bunched together and were not utilizing the stage to the full. The pace of delivery was a little fast at times but on the whole every voice could be heard and every word understood.
Well done to you all. I enjoyed your production very much and look forward to being invited to the next one.
Thank you for looking after me so well
