A very complex tale, skilfully handled by the Director and well delivered by an experienced cast. From the opening music the 'thriller' was set out for the audience to be baffled, confused and taunted by unexpected twists and turns. Who but Miss Marple could have worked out the suprise ending? I certainly didn't. The characters were well presented and the difference between the actors in the play within a play and the actors in the 'real' play was just enough to guide us through the story. Lots of hard work paid off in performance, Alison Steele - playing the parts of Jennifer/Kate- for me owned the stage and was a treat to watch. All the actors were very well supported by the set, props and backstage team too. Grateful thanks to the company and especially President Betty Wilson who provided me with a great insight into the background of WADS. It was a great pity that the good folk of Whitby had not give more support to live and local theatre. They would have enjoyed this play.
