Written by the director, this one act play is set on a suburban rooftop, it sounds simple which is exactly what it is. It is said that simplicity is best and this is true about this short play.
Shirley Betts and Gaynor Highcock play two pigeons discussing everyday events in the street below, very funny, word perfect and impeccable timing. It was evident throughout that the characters involved had studied the mannerisms of these fanciful birds and portrayed them down to a tee. Short interruptions by a Seagull – Sue Buckley, and Mr & Mrs Jackdaw – Joan Smith and Cath Williams, added variety to a piece which had the audience in stitches.
The Company is fortunate to have a member capable of writing, directing and taking part in an award winning play of this calibre, which they have in Gaynor Highcock. I do hope she continues to use her talent in this way for the benefit of local theatregoers.
