Who would have thought that A Christmas Carol would be the subject of a song and dance spectacular. The story takes place amid some clever scenery with superb choreography by this talented Society. Mid stage there was a huge Christmas tree which, when turned around, made Scrooge’s House, in fact his bed standing upright!
Richard Rumbellow was an excellent Scrooge putting the “humbug” on all the festivities. Chain-clanking Marley’s Ghost was Tony Gomez, a truly eerie performance. The Cratchit family were played by Thomas Haigh, Louise Yule, Christopher Grey, Mia Fisk and Tristan as Tiny Tim. Well done Tristan, your rendering grabbed the audience. The spirits of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future were all well cast as were the rest of the characters all recalled by Dickens’ fans. The dancing and singing are second to none, bearing in mind the majority of the cast are children from the tiny tots up to the kick line at the end.
A truly memorable production.
