This was traditional pantomime but with a few variations, not least the introduction, which added to the interest. It was well directed by Deborah and also well prepared with a large cast to accommodate on the limited facilities available. There was a varied selection of music which was nicely sung. On stage we had a good mixture of experience and youth led by Andrew Robinson, an excellent dame, who ensured the audience participation throughout. Rebecca Nelson was very good as Ali Baba as was Zena Robinson as the storyteller Waffla. Sean Tindle was great in the character role of Benni Baba, while Mike Tomlinson was suitably evil as the “baddy”. Jeanette Adams and Sharon Hughes were super as the comic duo Dilhi and Dalhi. There were some nice dance routines, all well choreographed, especially the Mummy scene. There could be a fine chorus line to showcase in future years. The backcloths were great and all produced “in house”, as were the fine costumes - well done. The lighting and sound was in young but very capable hands and what a good job they made of it. Overall great entertainment enjoyed by the young and not so young, and I am sure that includes the performers as well!.
