Our Lady Star of the Sea 15/12/2012 Director Anne Bouget We waited with anticipation as we listened to an excellent overture and we were then confronted by Abanazar, an oily and sinister character who had us hissing and booing from the very beginning, just what was needed to get the audience involved. We were then treated to a lively, fast moving pantomime with all the traditional elements, appealing to all ages. Wishee Washee ( Rob Fearn) and Widow Twankey ( Leo Appleton) , excellent characters, had the audience roaring with laughter and made sure we were an essential part of the show. Princess Jasmine ( Lucy Court-Stocks) and Aladdin ( Siobhan Palmer) looked charming and their voices blended beautifully in their duets. Notsoshy (Lyndsey Heron) as Princess Jasmine’s handmaiden was outstanding and her acting and delightful character was one of the highlights of the show for me. Choice of Musical numbers for the Pantomime was a great success and Pauline Hardie (Musical Director) is to be congratulated on all numbers including excellent diction from both principals and chorus. The musicians, led by Angie Strickland were an integral part of the show, moving seamlessly from one number to the next. Sound and lighting were very slick and certainly created the right atmosphere for each scene. Jeanette Appleton and Debra Chantry must be congratulated on their choice of costumes for the whole company. Every outfit seemed just right for all characters. Anne Bouget as Director has done a splendid job and the finished show has appealed to every age in the audience. Thank you for a very enjoyable afternoon spent in your company, I look forward to your next production. Eddie Regan, District 2 Representative NODA
