I know how difficult can be to put on a revue. The chorus have so much more to learn, not just singing but also movement but this company pulled it off admirably.
The format was a mix of facts and trivia about the “Oscars” well presented the two host narrators, and I even learned a few things myself.
The opening, with just fluorescent gloves against a black stage was most effective and got the show off to a good start.
The show moved from the 30’s to present day with a mixture of chorus and solo numbers however for me there were occasions when, though admirably done, the almost constant movement distracted from the singing.
Congratulations to all the soloists but I do have to make special  mention of Abi Hodges for her renditions of “Nothing” and “Somewhere that’s Green”, Julie Hole for “Send in the Clowns” and Valerie Rosser and Alan Jones, for a poignant  “I remember It Well”  resisting the temptation to play it for laughs.
The game was raised in the second half with more numbers involving choral harmony, which added substance to the numbers.
The orchestra provided a firm foundation for the many musical numbers and the chorus and soloists must have put in a lot of time and effort memorising words. Music and movement, Well done to all for a very enjoyable evening and many thanks for your hospitality, I look forward to seeing you again.
