Billed as a concert of Song and Dance celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, this was an evening of items reflecting the music of the past sixty years. For the first half, all the singers wore black trousers with casual white shirts for the men and jewel-cloured tops for the ladies. For the second half they all wore evening dress. The concert opened with 'Let Me Entertain You' from Gypsy. This was followed by solos, ensembles and chorus numbers from several well known musicals. I particularly enjoyed Adam Saunby's 'Who Can I Turn To';.the company,[ with an excellent tap routine], in 'One' and the Les Miserables medley immediately before the Interval. This was delightful with excellent harmony. The second half commenced with The Best of Bond with several well-known songs involved. Gloria Poole and Ashley Wingham's 'You're My Little Chuchi Face' from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was delightfully comical; a real contrast to Julie Leanings' thoughtful 'Hushaby Mountain' from the same film. The arrangement of Queen's'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' was lovely. Sing [Barlow and Lloyd Webber] was the penultimate offering and the evening ended in truly triumphant manner with the entire company and audience standing to sing 'Jerusalem'. So ended a most enjoyable evening. My apologies that I omitted to enter this on the website at the correct time. It was an unfortunate oversight.
