Tri Cumming
As drama specialist on the Musical Theatre Course at the Dance School of Scotland for over 25 years, Tri has the daily pleasure of teaching and directing aspiring musical theatre professionals in Scotland's only fully funded school of performing arts. Over her long career she has also worked as a freelancer devising, producing and directing work with professionals, amateur groups and youth companies throughout the country. With a background in straight drama, she has a passion for directing musicals and has directed Sister Act, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Elf, Nativity the Musical and Sunshine on Leith at the Kings Theatre in Glasgow along with numerous plays and revues. She is at present directing the 2025 production of Glasgow’s version of Let the People Sing to celebrate the 40th anniversary Les Misérables, alongside her work with the Dance School.

An essential course for actors of every level of experience. Spend time going back to basics to develop your vocal and physical skills, character development and how text is brought to life authentically on the stage.
Acting technique is a vital element of any performance on stage. This week will offer you practical, hands-on exploration resulting in a toolbox of techniques for rehearsal and creating firm foundations on which to build inspiring performances.
Looking at the rich array of approaches to acting in practical workshops your highly experienced tutor will guide and support as you:
- explore text in workshopped sessions and experiment with performance.
- learn how to create the world of the play that speaks to both actor and audience.
- work to create truthful characters and relationships.
- enjoy the language and drama of text through rehearsal.
- work with other students to explore, discuss and perform scenes throughout the week.
