Walsworth Road

The twelth collaboration between Gilbert & Sullivan, The Gondoliers tells the story of two charming Venetian Gondoliers - Marco and Guiseppe - who are informed that due to an error of identity when they were young boys, one of them is the heir to the throne of Barataria. They are delighted with the situation and tell their newly married wives - Gianetta and Tessa - that they will go and share the responsibilities of governing their new kingdom until it can be ascertained which of them is king. However, they soon find out that the Duke and Duchess of Plaza Toro married their beautiful daughter, Casilda, to one of them when she was a baby.

With 3 wives and 2 husbands, the potential Queen in love with a lowly servant, a kingdom where the potential kings work harder than their staff, a leering Grand Inquisitor of Spain and the poorest Duke and Duchess in the business, The Gondoliers is fast, fun and full of joyous music and dancing. So, castanets at the ready!
