The traditional story of Mother Goose is given a makeover in Alan P Frayn’s version of the popular pantomime. It contains all the traditional ingredients – an outrageous dame, a baddie to shout and hiss at, and a fairy to save the day. The panto is packed with comedy and songs that everyone can clap and sing along to.
Mother Goose is a poor woman who lives on a goose farm with her daughter Jill and son Silly Billy. The entire village is under constant threat from Squire Moneybags who keeps putting their rent up. Luckily the Squire’s nephew Colin is on their side. Mother Goose is sent a special goose – one that lays golden eggs – but with Demon Discontent lurking ever nearer, to tempt Mother Goose with eternal beauty, it’s not going to be that easy to find happiness. However, with the help of Fairy Fortune there’s sure to be a happy ending.
Airdrie Arts Guild Drama Group will stage Mother Goose, as part of their 50th Anniversary Celebrations, in Sir John Wilson Town Hall 28th November – 2nd December. Tickets are priced £15 adult and £10 child. There will be concessions for Senior Citizens (£10) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings ONLY. Discounts are available for block bookings. It is advised to book early especially for the Saturday matinee performance.
