BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

Abbey Players are excited to return to the Taliesin this year with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

Once upon a time an enchantress cast a spell on a prince, turning him into a hideous beast. To break the spell the prince must learn to love and be loved in return, before the last petal falls from an enchanted red rose.

Based on Disney’s hit film, Beauty and the Beast tells the story of Belle, a girl from a small village, who goes to rescue her father from the clutches of the Beast and selflessly chooses to be imprisoned in his place.

At the enchanted castle Mrs Potts, Lumiere, Cogsworth and Chip look on in anticipation as a friendship grows between Belle and the Beast, but time is ticking away. With Gaston out to hunt the Beast, and Belle worried about her father, will the Prince remain a beast forever? Or will their love blossom in time to break the spell and return the Prince and his household to their former selves.

With music by Alan Menken (Little Mermaid, Aladdin) and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice this ‘tale as old as time’ brings us songs such as ‘Be Our Guest’, ‘Gaston’ and of course ‘Beauty and the Beast’

It is truly a show for Disney fans young and old!!
