Farce is acknowledged to be one of the most difficult aspects of live theatre to stage well. This talented group achieved this admirably. Written by Duncan Greenwood, the play takes place at a typical Spanish Holiday Hotel at Formentera, one of the Balearic Islands. We first meet Juanito, the proprietor of the hotel with one of the guests, Herr Fritz Grotz. It's not long before we meet the Tinsley family having a change from their usual holiday arrangements in Blackpool. Then two more guests arrive. These are mother and daughter Mildred and Gloria Armitage. Also we see the Spanish maid, Juanita from time to time. It appears that young Ron Tinsley and Gloria Armitage have recently ended their friendship. They were unaware they would meet on foreign ground so soon. With three languages being involved there were plenty of misunderstandings, not to mention unfortunate mishaps. It would be grossly unfair to single any one of the actors for they all played their parts wonderfully well. The set of the hotel's Reception Lounge was well built, decorated and furnished, and the lighting and special effects were fine. Set in pre-Euro days, the costumes had been chosen with care. This play had been thoughtfully directed and because it had been very well rehearsed it moved at a good pace. Well done, everyone.
