Avenue Q was slick, fast paced, very well-rehearsed and a first for Herefordshire. It was a very enjoyable experience and certainly challenged the cast in a new and exciting way. The relatively small cast proved to be super talented in the puppetry stakes. The non-speaking cast members, who controlled the right hands of the puppets, did a Sterling job and gave animated performances in their own way.
The relatively young principals pushed themselves vocally with their accents and puppet voices which came across well. It was interesting to see that some of the cast did alternative roles on different performances which must have been hard to learn.
Richard Davies has directed two excellent and very different shows in the newly refurbished Tomkins Theatre but it would be nice to see him direct for the larger stage at the Courtyard.
I cannot pick out individual performances as this was such a well-balanced show, so all I can say is congratulations to the entire cast for an excellent production.
